Welcome to Glades Cemetery
The New Providence Church Cemetery, more commonly known as 'The Glades' is a beautiful old cemetery with the first known burial of record in 1791. Unlike other cemeteries, we are not a self-sustaining cemetery. In other words, we need to rely on personal donations in order to take care of the cemetery. All the work done for the cemetery, maintenance, record keeping, etc., is all done by only 4 volunteers. We are fortunate and grateful to be able to rely on the generosity of the members of our community and beyond to help maintain and preserve it.
Three new headstones were received and have been put in place marking the burial location of three of our Veterans, whose stones were so badly damaged they were beyond repair. We continue to work with the Office of Veterans Affairs, Memorial Office, in Tennessee, to receive more headstones to honor our Veterans.
If you have documents or information regarding someone buried at the Glades and would be willing to share it, we would love to see it and add it to the vertical file of that individual.
